The No-Briner: the only desalination system with no brine to manage.
Every other inland desalination approach leaves you a reject stream to pond, haul, inject or evaporate. The No-Briner — the brine-elimination system at the heart of Desalus — simply never makes one. Desalus funds, builds, owns and operates it; for water between 5,000 and 50,000 mg/L TDS you buy back clean water at an attractive rate per thousand gallons, with zero brine and zero disposal left behind.
Inland, brine is the problem you can never fully solve — until you stop making it.
Every conventional plant treats brine as a fact of life: recover what you can, then spend the rest of the project's life managing the concentrate. Inland there's no ocean outfall, so that brine becomes a permanent line item — ponds, liners, hauling, injection permits and the liability that comes with all of it.
- Disposal never ends — once you have a reject stream, you manage it for the life of the site.
- Ponds and liners grow as recovery falls and TDS climbs toward 50,000 mg/L.
- Brine permits are fragile — a single regulatory change can strand the whole operation.
What a reject stream costs over time
A reject stream is a cost that compounds for decades. The No-Briner removes it from the equation entirely — the line stays flat at zero.
You can't have a brine problem if you never make brine.
The No-Briner is engineered around a single, uncompromising idea: eliminate the reject stream at the source. No brine means no ponds, no permits, no liability — only clean water and pure fertilizer.
Zero reject, by design
The system is built so there is simply no concentrate to manage. Not minimized — eliminated. The name is the spec.
No brine permit problem
No reject stream means nothing to dispose of and nothing to permit. The single biggest inland regulatory risk just disappears.
Lower water cost, zero capital
No capital outlay and no operating burden. Desalus funds, builds and runs everything — you pay only for clean water delivered, at an attractive rate per thousand gallons that beats your current all-in cost.
99%+ recovery, 5k–50k mg/L
Purpose-built for the inland brackish band, recovering nearly every drop where conventional recovery collapses.
No land lost to ponds
Reclaim the acreage, liners and maintenance that evaporation ponds consume — and the footprint that grows with them.
Delivered as a service
Desalus configures, operates and optimizes the No-Briner around your exact water and volumes — zero brine, guaranteed by design.
Built for the band where brine becomes unbearable
The further inland and the higher the TDS, the worse the brine problem — and the bigger the No-Briner advantage. It's designed for 5,000–50,000 mg/L total dissolved solids.
The highlighted band is exactly where conventional plants generate the most brine — and where eliminating it matters most.
The No-Briner vs. living with brine
The same influent water. One approach makes a reject stream; the other never does.
| Outcome | Desalus | Evaporation ponds | Conventional RO |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brine / reject stream | Never created | Permanent pond | Yes — managed forever |
| Water recovery | 99%+ | Low — lost to air | Stalls inland |
| Disposal & hauling | None | Ongoing | Ongoing |
| Land & liner footprint | Minimal | Large & growing | Moderate |
| Regulatory risk | Low — no brine to permit | High | Rising |
| Capital you outlay | None — Desalus owns & operates | You fund & build | You fund & build |
| What you pay for | Clean water, per 1,000 gal | Disposal, forever | Power + disposal |
| Your all-in water cost | Lowest & predictable | Highest | High |
From water report to a brine-free site in four steps.
It starts with your numbers. Send Desalus a full-panel water quality and volume report, and you'll get a site-specific model of exactly how the No-Briner eliminates your reject stream — and what that saves.
Start with your water reportShare your full-panel report
Send your water quality and volume data through the Desalus contact form. The richer the panel, the sharper the model.
Get a site-specific model
Desalus quantifies recovery, your clean-water rate per thousand gallons, and the capital and disposal costs you avoid by never producing brine.
Desalus builds & operates the No-Briner
Desalus capitalizes, installs and runs the brine-elimination system around your site — no capex or operating burden for you — so a reject stream is never created.
Buy back clean water, waste-free
You purchase clean water at your agreed rate per thousand gallons. There is no brine to manage — ever — and the recovered salts become fertilizer Desalus markets, which is how your water price stays low.
Raise profit. Eliminate waste. Flourish community.
The No-Briner removes your single largest inland liability and turns the salts inside it into product — affordable clean water for you, with the recovered fertilizer sold by Desalus instead of a pond you tend forever.
The brine questions everyone asks first
Is the No-Briner really brine-free, or just low-brine?
Brine-free. The whole point of the No-Briner is that no reject stream is ever created — there is no concentrate to pond, haul, inject or evaporate. Over 99% of the water is recovered as clean water and the dissolved solids become farm-grade fertilizer that Desalus refines and sells. That's true zero-liquid-discharge, not a reduced-brine compromise.
How does the Desalus model work — what do I actually pay?
Desalus capitalizes, builds, owns, operates and maintains the No-Briner facility. You don't buy equipment or run anything — you simply purchase the clean water it produces, at an attractive rate per thousand gallons. Because Desalus recovers and sells the resulting fertilizer, we can price your water below conventional treat-and-dispose alternatives while leaving zero waste. The fertilizer revenue is Desalus'; your benefit is cheaper water and no liability.
Is this for seawater desalination?
No. The No-Briner is purpose-built for inland brackish water in the 5,000–50,000 mg/L TDS range — mines, municipalities, power and industry with no ocean to discharge to. Inland sites are exactly where the brine problem is worst, which is why eliminating it matters most.
What happens to all the dissolved salt?
It becomes product, not waste. The salts that would have ended up in brine are recovered as pure, farm-grade fertilizer. Nothing is concentrated and set aside for disposal — every output leaves the site as either clean water or fertilizer.
How do I see what the No-Briner saves my site?
Send Desalus a full-panel water quality and volume report through the contact form. You'll receive a site-specific model of recovery, fertilizer yield and the brine-disposal cost you eliminate — before any commitment.
See your site with the brine line erased.
Send Desalus a full-panel water quality and volume report and get a site-specific No-Briner model of clean water recovery, your rate per thousand gallons, and the disposal and capital costs you'll never pay again.
No obligation. The report drives a site-specific model of recovery, your clean-water rate per thousand gallons, and avoided brine and capital cost.
- Quantified water recovery for your exact TDS and volumes
- Your attractive clean-water rate per thousand gallons
- Brine-disposal, pond, permit and capital cost eliminated
- Zero capital outlay — Desalus funds, builds & operates it all
